Not a single word is sung from Clayton Ryan's towering frame that he hasn't seen, heard, or done himself. Raised in the wooded hills of southwestern Iowa, he was shaped not only by a lush, rustic Midwestern backdrop, but by the blue-collar life of America's Heartland. He might have happily lived his life as a janitor or lumberjack if it weren't for the draw of songwriters in his youth; Chris Whitley, Jim Croce, and Slaid Cleaves regularly cut through the air of his childhood home. His first show came during his college years in 2016, a fifteen minute opening set on a sweltering summer night at The Octopus in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Gabriel the Bull

Gabriel the Bull is the living embodiment of a Spanish guitar slinging western outlaw. His music can only be described as the booming cinematic soundtrack to the epic western movie playing in the minds of those who long to ride out alone into the setting sun. You will hear the sound of dust, horses, thunder, and fire. And whether you love it, or hate it, you’ll never forget where you were the first time that you heard it.
